On a side note, definitely gotta try this thing out. I must've done something right, because it was gifted to me by my girlfriend's father. His local track closed down and he gave it to me on the condition I run it hard and often. It's a Birel Rotax 125, should be good fun when I can get it out of mothballs and back on the track.

Another side note, I'm moving back to Oklahoma for work after working in West Texas for the past 4 years. They have a drag strip, a cart track, and a road course. Oh, and also grass. An appropriate home for each of the pictured items, I'll let you guess which one goes where. :D

You're going lawnmower racing! Sweet!

Hah. J/K looks like you have all the right tools for the new location.

I'm excited for the move, nothing like a new home to shake it up.

It is! It's made of brick to deter baseball-bat weilding ne'er-do-wells.

Birel makes a great chassis ! Is it a 32mm ? Does it have an adjustable rear stiffening bar across the rear of the chassis below the rear axle ?

Sooo, what configuration is the engine ? Formula Y ?

Madness... I need a kart in my life...

Le sigh...

I have always wanted to take the oversized mailbox, then put a regular size inside and fill gap with concrete. Now that I have a mailbox on the street, I live in a nice neighborhood in a cold-a-sack so really no need for all that.

Phrase is "cul de sac". Means "end of a bag", because those who created it as a French-ish phrase for "Dead end" were tripping. J.R.R. Tolkein thought it was funny, hence "Bag End" in The Hobbit.

When I was a kid, some bat wielding ne'er-do-wells decided one night that our mailbox would look really good smashed into the next yard. When Dad saw it the next morning, he was pissed and inspired.

What we ended up building was a "sleeper" mailbox. We started by digging a hole about 3 feet deep and setting a piece of 4" square steel tubing in the hole. I forget what wall thickness we got, but there was a lot of steel in there. Concrete came next, filling the hole and the inside of the square tubing. Once we had an indestructible spine, we retired to the garage to build the mailbox itself. We built a sleeve that went over the square tube in the ground but looked like a standard wooden mailbox post. We made it out of redwood so it'd last forever. A little construction adhesive and a bolt through the bottom held it firmly to its concrete and steel core.

It's still standing 25+ years later. I'm sure that eventually something will happen and the current homeowner will have to repair/replace it. On that day, he will curse us.

Excellent garage. What else could you possibly need?

It doesn't have the stiffening bar, I actually am not sure if it's 30mm or 32mm, I just got it the other day.

It's technically not in race spec right now so I'm not sure... these are things I need to look up but haven't had time yet.

The neighborhood is pretty good, there hasn't been a violent crime in the town since 1975. But it's a stylistic thing around here.

My neighbors had a stout mailbox made out of 3/8" wall 6" steel pipe.

Nice! It looks ordinary enough from the outside, I'd never suspect it.

Didn't realize you lived in Arlington, I've been up and down Eastchase Pkwy, had a buddy who lived out that way.

Once I take care of its leaking problem I'm going to get it out and do a proper photo shoot, but with my relocation for work and everything going on it's on the back burner for the next month or two.

I'll post 'em up when I have them!

I live in Austin now, and haven't lived in Arlington for almost 20 years. I THINK Dad and I built that mailbox when I was still in junior high, thought it might have been high school.
